House of Licks

It has been really fun setting up shop online and starting to share some of the awesome vintage finds I have gotten my hands on.
I am all about hunting down the treasures that I wear and I actually don’t think I have bought from a typical ‘shop’ in years! I have to say the recycling aspect of finding things this way is a major bonus as is having authentic pieces that are made beautifully and are one of a kind.
Hope you enjoy fellas!

Great look on model Myf Shephard.
I bought a beautiful vintage negligee when I was in New Orleans, but have only worn it a few times because I get a little stuck with how to wear it to its full effect. This is perfect inspiration! (hmm, nice rings too.)

DI$COUNT.T.

28/4/11

On the front porch in my DI$COUNT tshirt. Was great to finally meet Nadia & Cami the lovely designers who are getting ready to launch! Very exciting. I will treasure this T-Shirt.

Today I made this necklace out of my broken Moshino belt…now it reads something along the lines of MOON.SICH. Whatever that means.

Gotta mention the gorgeous seller DejaVintaj on etsy who I got these boots from. She also sent me the glass pendant that I added to my necklace, as an extra wee gift. She makes these out of old lamps/broken prisms. Thank you Marianne! (check out her shoes! I’m stoked with these boots!)

DI$COUNT Universe EXHIB.

18/4/11

Last Friday night I checked out the DI$COUNT exhibition at Blackwoods gallery here in Melbourne.

The idea was that a group of artists in Japan, London and Melbourne (DI$COUNT girls) sent a bunch of stuff to each other and each group had to create something out of the parcel of stuff. (boy o boy that was a fabulous sentence.)
Then the works have all been exhibited in each of the 3 countries. (I know they had the exhib in Japan, not sure if London has had theirs yet?)
You can see by the pictures on the wall next to each outfit what the original materials were.

Gonna go pick up a DI$COUNT t-shirt very soon! Can’t wait to cover myself in the stuff.

70 year celebration!

12/4/11

Fashion designer Vivienne Westwood turned 70 this month, so here is a tribute to the incredible designer.
………..

Shoes from her Anglomania days
1993
This is strange but I remember watching this moment on the 6 o’clock news when I was a kid!….Naomi taking a tumble in a Westwood catwalk show 1993-5.
Kate and Naomi during those Anglomania days. Naomi wearing Westwood.
I have never been able to shake this image out of my head from the moment I first saw it.
Detail shots of a Fall 1997 show.
John Galliano and Vivienne Westwood in 1993.
Two of my favourite designers that heavily influenced my work back when I was studying fashion.
Back stage, Vivienne dressing a model 1991-2

This video is quite something. Vivienne Westwood is being interview on BBC1 in 1988 by Sue Lawley, with guests Russell Harty and Janet Street-Porter.
That Russell guy is a total dickhead; I don’t understand why the audience is laughing and I am so glad that Janet Street-Porter (who looks great!) says what she says at the end about Viv.
Dame Westwood conducts herself with such grace, I would have been extremely angry!
I absolutely adore the collection of outfits she is showing here.

Took this photo as a test shot a few weeks ago, thought I’d post it anyway.

Thank you!
